Untitled (street performance) 2005-2008

Documentation number of shares which exceeds the Pop artist Nancy Popp  exceeds norms and constraints of urban space. In different urban areas it climb pole and traffic signs, temporary positions his body above the streets, shops and citizens in Arkansas. This procedure  of self-strengthening or self-boosting,  brings into question the terms and interlinks of resolved public space and personal desires, along with invoking the history of protest and activism, procedures that would gain publicity and events are organized to be tested  persistence of participants. Popp writes: "The body becomes a temporary landmark that indicates a violation or  trance-aggression and  attempt to rise above the inherent hierarchy of vertical landscape. But climbing on the street lamppost is a procedure which is seemingly ridiculous and meaningless. The motives for such a thing were unclear, intimate or individual. "

 This climbing Popp is performed in various places in America and the world, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Tijuana. Although its actions and the experience inspired by the changing contexts that cause the interaction with the organization of space in the locality or the paradigm of local customs,in every situation it is  instrumentalising your body with the intention to defy hierarchical patterns of movement in public space, rhythm disruption of everyday life and its space defined sense. This climb was part of  Nancy Popp's planner in Slovenia, Serbia and England, during the summer 2009, she is gaves a presentation on The Performance Studies International conference  in Zagreb,   and performed a climbing in the Park Zrinjevac in Zagreb, Terazije in Belgrade and in Trafalgar Square in London. These actions, performed live, and indicate the physical and legal risks to which the artist exhibited, if he or she have decide to "work on himself" in real time and space
 
Nancy Popp lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She participated in numerous exhibitions, including Project Enduring Look (project "persistent view") at the Art Institute of Chicago (Art Institute of Chicago), Draw a Line and Follow It ( "draw the line and follow it") within the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (Lace) (Exhibitions of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles); Movement and the Visual Arts ( "Movement and visual arts" hosted by the Getty Center (Getty Center) in Los Angeles.
