As Kaldor stood with his wife, children and grandchildren, gallery director Edmund Capon spoke enthusiastically about his hopes for the collection, which will be displayed in a new exhibition space in 2011.
Describing the collection as the most important of late 20th century avant-garde art in Australia, Capon said it was the "exemplary vision of one man on behalf of his family": "This is a gift that will forever be a milestone in the history of this gallery."
