Fragmentary view of the arts and the media on 20th and 21st century06.09.2010. 18:40


On September 7, 2010 at 19:00 in The Artget Gallery, at The Cultural Center Belgrade, there will be presentation of the book "Fragmentary view of the arts and the media on 20th and 21st century", Nolit edition, Belgrade 2010 by Margaret Jelic.

Participants: Jasmina Cubrilo, Assistant Professor of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Nikola Dedic, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, University of Nis, Zoran Zivkovic, editor Nolit and the author. Moderator: Gordana Dobric Manuscript of this book is based on the doctoral dissertation "The Theory of views: view between art and media," which Margaret Jelic was defended at The University of Arts in Belgrade, on December 2008. In this book the author deals with the theory looks at contemporary art. She sets up and develops problems in modern views and posmodernim theories with special emphasis on the theoretical positions Morris Merlo-Ponti, Jacques Lacan, Foster Hall and Guy Debord, extending the theory then looks into the framework of culture and media. There is an interesting way of applying these scientific contributions to the works of contemporary art that the author takes as operational models. According to the recommendation of a mentor of this doctoral work, PhD Misko Suvakovic, the book is a useful introduction to the study of visual arts and media. Margareta Jelic is Belgrade artist. She graduated Painting on The Faculty of Applied Arts and an MA and Ph.D. on The University of Arts. She deals with the classic painting, animation, video, photography and installation in the space. Also she organized and conducted several workshops for visual animation for young talents. She exhibited in over ten exhibitions in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Vienna and Paris and in numerous group exhibitions and festivals of new media in the country and abroad.
