Katarina Ivanovic (1811-1882) was a Serbian artist who lived and worked in the Hungary in the period which was in Serbia marked by the awakening of strong national consciousness and movement of Romanticism in art and culture.
She is celebrated as the first Serbian female artist ever to become a member of Academy of Science and Art. She dreamed of unity of Serbian and Hungarian people, which was her personal and artistic aim.
There are 38 art works by Katarina Ivanovic survived until now. In the National bank there are 18 paintings on display, among them some paintings that are considered to be masterpieces. Paintings are borrowed from different museums in Serbia and Hungary.
Exhibition will last until September 30th.
