Sasa Pancic - Objects and Sculptures

Saša Pančić “sorted” the exhibits of his independent exhibition in Novi Sad into three causally related entities. The first part of the exhibition involves drawings of strong, slow, but suggestive line flows. Although the whole structure envokes powerful expressivness, the line is severely rationalized, geometricized, and concrete-like solid through the entire composition ambience. Being as such, this line bears witness to the clear art thought. It is a consequence of refined subjective and serious contemplative discussions, a mixture of both mental and poetic involvement.

In his series of curiously conceptualized objects (which resemble certain spacial picture-books), Pančić discovers the possibility of making aforementioned drawings spacial. The lines do not stick to the paper any more, but are “free in space”, thanks to the crafty visual illusion. They become visible, tangible, and real… Eventually, the drawing thought from the begining becomes defined and materialized by turning these drawings and objects into sculptures. Pančić builds interesting, hard juncture constructions, and his initial idea comes up with its final epilogue: it became a representation of a convincing modernistic discussion on shape, space and materials, a discussion on the funcionalization of art elements and the poetics of fine art discourse…
And indeed, through the continuous and sensible development of certain art ideas, Pančić has entered the borderline area between the drawing and the sculpture where it is hard to define propositions. This area urges constant re-examination and research, highly regarding the ontological feature of an art expression, and offers numerous possible formulae for the artistic interpretation of reality… At the same time, thanks to the cultivated style of his art representation, Pančić has reached peculiar spiritual scopes and values. His original expressivness makes the observer “convinced” of the authenticity of his sculptural and drawing poetics...
