Arsenije Teodorović

Arsa Teodorovic was one of the most significant Serbian painters in 18th and 19th century. He graduated at Academy of Arts in Vienna, and afterwards he lived in Temisvar and Novi Sad. He painted portraits and altarpieces, but also some historical compositions. His portrait of Dositej is considered to be the first portrait of a member of bourgeois class in Serbian painting. Teodorovic's style belonged to a progressive, classicistic stream of Serbian art. He was a principle of a drawing school, and through it he influenced a number of younger artists.
