Biography


Stevan Aleksic was a painter from famous family of artists. He studied painting in Munich in N. Gysis studio. After returning to his homeland, he opened his own studio in Arad. He was most successful as a church painter because he brought changes into traditional Serbian fresco-painting - brightness of color and dramatic atmosphere. Although he worked at the time when French Impressionism was very influential, he remained a painter of Realism.
