Margareta Jelić was born in Belgrade. She graduated in the class of Prof. Gradimir Petrović from the Faculty of Applied
Arts in Belgrade, the Department of Painting, in 1992. She studied Byzantine icons in English and Serbian monasteries in
the period between 1992 and 1997. She was a theology student at the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade from 1995 till 1996.
Margareta obtained her MA degree in the classes of Prof. Čedomir Vasić and Prof. Vladan Radovanović at the Department of
Multimedia Art, the University of Arts in Belgrade, in 2006. Two years later she did her PhD thesis under the tutelage of Prof.
Miško Šuvaković at the Department of Art and Media Theory, the University of Arts in Belgrade.
Her exhibition Dobar dan gospodine Noa (Good day, Mr Noah) is part of her PhD thesis Odnos posmatračeve i junakove percepcije
u višemedijskom delu (The Relationship Between the Perception of the Observer and the Central Character In a Multimedia Work).
Since 1991 Margareta Jelić has been presenting her work at numerous solo and group exhibitions held in the country
and abroad. She engages in animation as an art medium. Animated films: Marta i njeni prijatelji (Marta And Her Friends)
(2000), Srušeni snovi (Unfulfilled Dreams) (2003) and Četiri priče o nama (Four Stories About Us) (2007). Art projects: Flux
junior, Quaternio terminorum, Pametne neposlušne devojke (Smart Disobedient Girls), Animart. Her art biography includes a
number of workshops, art colonies and residence stays in Europe and the USA. She became a member of ULUS (The Serbian
Association of Fine Artists) and ULUPUDUS (The Serbian Association of Fine, Applied and Drama Artists) in 1997. She is a
member of Berufsverband Bildender Кunstler Össterreichs. She lives and works in Belgrade.
