Biography


Nikola Aleksic was one of the most appreciated painters in 19th century Serbia. He graduated in Vienna, went on a study trip to Italy, and he lived in Arad (today Romania). He made a significant number of portraits and religious scenes in many churches. He left behind more works than any other contemporary artist. His style was influenced by painting of Nazarenes and Bider mayer.
