Biography
Ilija Basicevic Bosilj was born in Sid in 1895. He was a peasant, which started to paint late in his sixties. At first he did pastels and drawings, and later he started to paint oil paintings. His style was compared to Paul Klee, Juan Miro, Jean Dubuffet and Kandinsky. He is considered to be one of the most significant artists of Naive art of the 20th century.
