Vulcano kids

"Móðir min i kví, kví" is an old poem that originates from Island. This poem evokes all-present theme of rejecting those individuals who are not welcomed into a society. It speaks about hard traditional and conservative attitudes that finally lead do blindness and loss of humanity, while referring to moral values.

The story goes like this:

A young girl lived and worked on a farm. She got pregnant before she got married, and decided to hide her pregnancy. When the time came, she went to a vulcano and gave birth to a child. She covered her newborn with her most beautiful dress, and left it there, in the vulcano. When she returned home, she decided to forget about everything.

Couple of months later, she decided to go to a dance party. She wanted to wear her prettiest dress, but she couldn't find it. She forgot what happened to it. All of a sudden, a ghost of her baby came into the room, singing a song: „My dearest mommy, don't be afraid of coldness, I'll borrow you a dress to dance in it, to dance in it“. Then, a baby's ghost strongly hit the mother in her face, killing her immediately. Mother was left there to lie dead, while the baby's ghost disappeared in the darkness of the wintery night.

Bojan Radojcic's work „Vulcano kids“ consists of eight short stories told by the means of painting, and it represents intimate journals of those „vulcano kids“ that can be found everywhere around. The author devotes his works to those „vulcano kids“ that society is ashamed of, or rejects for any reason.
