New York Impressions

The paintings from this stage are both “homage” with artists like Mark Roth and Barnett Newman, and made using previous experience and knowledge acquired in Europe. These paintings are made using wide strokes of color and all have certain temper reflecting explorations and atmosphere of the places they were made in.

St. Sebastian

A well-known myth about St. Sebastian (shown on many canvases of famous masters of art world), took a new shape in Cvetkovic’s work. The canvas represents the body of St. Sebastian, and brushes represent arrows. Just like the faith of St. Sebastian in Christ’s teachings are metaphorically showing the strength of the spirit, these paintings represent faith in art.

Protor for Conquistador

The conquistador is synonymous for free and inquisitive spirit. The painter is an ever-lasting wonderer, and discoverer carried by his emotions and wishes, and confronted by uncertainties, and dilemmas.

We might take art as a journey, whether it mean a journey to the creation of the painting, or longing for the unknown and undiscovered. In the same fashion the paintings from this stage show the longing for endless challenge.

The Writing of the old “Armizadur” Armizadur is a man waiting for ships in the harbor, and helping it dock. He is united with the ships. And just like any person longs for journeys, the painter in this stage opens the doors of the safe of memories, and recollections of his life adventure still lasting.

Flags

On the large-sized canvases from this stage, dominate red, beige, and white and flags with a cross on them. Expressionist paintings from this stage represent this synthesis of accented visual art and sensitivity, and their poetic content.

Backyards

This phase was started in the early 1990’s when the painter reaches his full maturity, and they show a nostalgic remembrance of his childhood, monastery backyards he once visited. He got the most influential award for paintings from this period.

The Minoan Garden

These paintings were created as a result of the painter’s interest in Greek mythology. This theme, which has been re-introduced throughout the centuries in every form of art. Cvetkovic, using his own aspirations, reconstructed this theme on his paintings, putting his own stamp on them. Some of the works from this period include The journey of Theseus, several versions of Minonian garden etc.
