Stevan Todorović
Stevan (Steva) Todorovic was one of the leading artists in 19th century Serbia. He painted portraits and historical compositions in spirit of Romanticism (unfortunately, most of historical paintings are now lost). He is considered to be author of the first free landscape in Serbian painting. He also painted some unusual scenes, as “Gymnastic company”, and altarpieces. He was very renowned and respectful artist in his time. He was initiator of numerous different cultural projects – founding of Gymnastic company, Serbian Amateur Theater and periodization of Serbian art.
