«Aquatint is a technique which suits Rajko Kovacevic the best and where he finds enough space for new artistic exploration.
Besides graphics he paints, trying to translate his painting experiances into the language of graphics and through that to brake the clasic graphic order and discipline introducing the painter's freedom in processing of the board. He balances whole series of unreal shapes and structures as well as different rithms and overall effect of the art is relaxing one.
Artist finds detail very important and he works on it with huge ammount of emotion.
...Facing tradition, to the portrait, Kovacevic shows us art of an skilfull drawer. It does not satisfies him and deliberately he brings restlesness in the structure of the background. There one finds traces of secession and enformalle which Rajko puts in peace with classic details....Just like most graphic artists, Rajko is not satisfied just with black and white graphic and so he introduces the color...He deliberatly takes complementary colors and working on the board he takes care about their mixing in the printing process. Resonant tone in conjucture of these two (three) clear colors calms their richness of middle tones which give an atmosphere of an mature painting behind which soundness observer gets an impression that the exhibit is older then it actually is.»
