Artist's short biography
Pavle Simić
Pavle Simic learned painting in workshop of Alojz Kastanj in Novi Sad from 1832. to 1837, and afterwards he graduated in Vienna Academy of Arts. After finishing studies, he returned to Novi Sad where he lived until the end of his life. At first he painted portraits and icons, and later he painted many altarpieces, and also a number of significant historical compositions.
